Driver charged after three-vehicle crash blocks Route 62 in Hubbard
HUBBARD TWP., Ohio - A driver has been charged after a crash involving three pickup trucks Thanksgiving Day on U.S. Route 62 in Hubbard Township.
It happened just after 11:15 a.m. in front of the Greenwood Chevrolet and Love's Truck Stop.
The road was closed for about an hour and a half.
Troopers said 23-year-old Charles Vestal of Hubbard was southbound on Route 62 in a 2016 Nissan pickup truck.
They said he was speeding and failed to stop at a traffic signal.
He struck 20-year-old Balin Shrivastava of Pennsylvania, who was turning northbound on 62 from a private drive in a gray 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, according to troopers.
They said Vestal then drove across the median and struck 57-year-old David Williams of Hubbard, who was driving northbound in a red 2016 Chevrolet Silverado.
Vestal then drove into a median and a traffic signal before coming to a stop.
He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to troopers.
A passenger in Williams' truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, Shrivastava and a passenger suffered minor injuries.
Troopers said Vestal is charged with failure to yield, OVI and distracted driving.
