BOARDMAN, Ohio - The Live Yes! Connect Group in Boardman will host a Zoom meeting with a Cleveland Clinic doctor to offer tips for keeping joints moving and healthy.

“The worst thing to do for your joints is to sit,” Deborah Andio said, facilitator for Live Yes! Connect Group.

The Live Yes! Connect Group in Boardman is going virtual to reach out to people suffering from arthritis who are stuck indoors during the winter months of the pandemic.

The group is inviting the public, especially those who suffer from arthritis and joint pain, to join it’s first upcoming live Zoom event on December 12 at 10 a.m.

Anyone who wants to participate is asked to register at this link. An invite with the upcoming Zoom event link will be emailed to those who register.

Live Yes! Connect is part of an expanding range of Arthritis Foundation resources that aims to offer personalized help and support to adults and children that live with arthritis and rheumatic conditions.

Dr. Yufang Lin from the Cleveland Clinic Center for Integrative Medicine will be the featured speaker for the virtual event. She will explain the healing powers of the body, how food and diet can help with reducing inflammation and how supplements and essential oils could be used. She will also share some recipes.

The 45 minute presentation will include a question and answer session afterward for 15 minutes.

“It’s my goal to keep people connected, because we’ve got parents with kids with rheumatoid arthritis,” Andio said. “And of course we have our elder population who is probably the most isolated, that’s why I’m trying to do something to get people something they need.”

Andio expects 50 to 100 people across the valley to participate in the event. The goal is to reach more people across the region as the winter months keep people primarily indoors.

The goal is to eventually hold monthly community meetings with guest speakers to give those who suffer from arthritis something to look forward to.

Andio is working to raise awareness about the program available to people living in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
