ABERDEEN, Maryland - Traffic was backed up for nearly one mile along Jacobs Road Tuesday morning as cars, SUV’s and trucks lined up for a chance to get a free $50 gift card in Youngstown.

Service organization JMA Solutions has been advertising that they would hand out the gift cards to the first 1,000 cars at the Alpha and Omega First Baptist Church on 3120 Winton Avenue.

Although the giveaway wasn’t scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., people who live in the area of the East Side neighborhood were calling the police as early as 6:30 a.m. to complain that access to their driveways were being blocked by the line of traffic.

Organizers Jan Adams and daughter Ronnette Myers say they want to give back to the community.

Masks are required and only one gift card is being handed out per vehicle.
