Youngstown police have now canceled an alert after asking the public to help locate a missing woman.

A statement issued by police early Saturday only said that the alert had been canceled, adding that no further information would be issued.

Calls to YPD from 21 News to learn what happened to Shalena Clark were not answered.

In the original news release, police said 47-year-old Clark was reported missing after a welfare check on the 500 block of Pasadena Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Christmas night.

When officers arrived at the home, they were told by a family member that they were not able to make contact with their mother Clark.

Clark was last seen walking home from a friend's house on East La Clede Drive just after midnight on Christmas.

Her family told police that Clark is currently being treated for a medical condition that puts her at risk if she does not receive her treatment.
