Garage heater could be to blame for fire that destroyed Weathersfield home

WEATHERSFIELD TWP., Ohio - A heater in a garage could be to blame for a fire that destroyed a home in Weathersfield Monday morning.
Crews got the call just before 6 a.m. that the garage attached to the home on the 2300 block of South Bellwood Avenue had gone up in flames, with smoke filling up the house.
Weathersfield's fire chief said there were four people inside the house and they all made it out uninjured.
Trumbull dispatchers were told the garage was five feet away from the house next door, so the people that lived there had to also evacuate.
Robbins Avenue was blocked off at South Bellwood for a time while crews cleaned up.
There were also reports of two cats in the basement, but it's unknown if they made it out.
The Red Cross was called in to help.
The fire is still under investigation. The state fire marshal was requested to come out.
