DeWine accepts resignation of Susan Block from Ohio Arts Council after controversy

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine released a statement announcing he had accepted the resignation of Susan Allen Block, a board member appointed to the Ohio Arts Council, a group that allocates state and federal funding to Ohio art organizations, including The Butler Institute of American Art, the Youngstown Symphony, the Playhouse, Ballet Western Reserve and many other organizations in the community on Friday, Jan. 8.
The statement read "Today I accepted the resignation of Susan Allan Block from the Ohio Arts Council."
Block's Twitter account on Jan. 6 had controversial comments about vice-president elect Kamala Harris, President-elect Joe Biden and election fraud in the 2020 Presidential race.
DeWine condemned social media comments. Block has deleted the Facebook and Twitter comments.
Donna S. Collins, executive director of the Ohio Arts Council responded "Agency staff does not comment on the personal opinions of its sitting board members. However, Susan is no longer on the board, so let me now say this. Our agency does not condone or endorse these inflammatory opinions in any way, and we will continue to work in alignment with our shared values of diversity, equity, and inclusivity."
