I-680 reopens, Mahoning Ave. Bridge remains closed
I-680 reopened Thursday night after the Mahoning Avenue Bridge's support structure was damaged during an accident.

I-680 reopened Thursday night after the Mahoning Avenue Bridge's support structure was damaged during an accident.
According to Chuck Shasho, the Youngstown Deputy Director of Public Works, I-680 will reopen in the area of the Mahoning Avenue Bridge Thursday night.
The Road had been closed between 711 and Market Street since Monday.
The road is now open one lane in both directions.
Shasho says ODOT contractors have been on-site to temporarily shore up the bridge so I-680 can reopen safely to drivers.
The Mahoning Avenue Bridge will remain closed until repairs are made.
Those repairs to the bridge are estimated to take six to eight weeks.
Detours in the area will be changing as repairs are made to the structure of the bridge.
One of the drivers involved in the crash that damaged the bridge is now facing charges.
21 News learned Wednesday that 47-year-old Franklin Carter, who was driving an SUV that ran into a semi-truck, crashing into the bridge, has been charged with failure to control and driving under suspension.
