Campbell residents surveyed on police policies

CAMPBELL, Ohio - People living in the City of Campbell are being surveyed to gauge their opinions about the police department.
Mayor Nick Phillips says residents should be getting a letter explaining the “CPD & Me” survey which is designed to help leaders understand how the Campbell Police are perceived in the community and how relationships with the department can be improved.
“I am proud of the work our Police department has done and continues to do in exploring ways that All Persons who come in contact with the police are treated equitably and fairly,” said Phillips.
The letter explains that steps have already been taken such as diversity & sensitivity training, as well as the addition of body cameras and cruiser dash cams.
Phillips says the next step is to review, revise and adopt 21st Century Police Policy and Procedure that is tailored for the needs of a community the size of Campbell. I believe the best way to do that is to allow you, the residents to weigh in.
The survey is anonymous, according to the Mayor. Data gathered will be sorted and interpreted by the mayor, the police chief, and the CPD & Me Community Alliance Board. New police policies and procedures will be adopted after review.
“Persons, despite their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or age, should feel confident and secure in any interactions they have with our Police Department,” says Phillips.
The survey takes approximately 3 - 5 minutes to complete and may be accessed by the link below. It will be available until March 11, 2021.
