WASHINGTON - Valley Congressmen on opposite sides of the political aisle say they are considering running for the U.S. Senate seat now Republican Rob Portman.

Republican Portman announced Monday that he will not run for another term once it ends in 2022.

Republican Bill Johnson said in a statement that supporters have been asking him to consider "additional ways" to serve Ohio.

"I am seriously considering this opportunity, and over the next few weeks I will talk to my family, friends, and supporters to determine if this is the right time and the right opportunity," said Johnson.

Democrat Tim Ryan said that he is overwhelmed by the support from those who want him to step up to a higher office, but he has not made a decision yet.

That's according to his Twitter.
