An Austintown Township man has been jailed after failing to show up for sentencing on a conviction of multiple counts of child pornography charges.

Robert Basic, 44, was booked into the Mahoning County jail after being arrested by U.S. Marshals on Friday.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum issued a warrant for his arrest on January 20, ordering that Basic be held without bond after Basic did not appear for a scheduled sentencing hearing.

Basic, who pleaded guilty earlier to 20 counts pandering obscenity involving a minor, could face a sentence of one-and-a-half years in prison.

Authorities arrested Basic, and Ryan Marenkovic of Austintown in August following an investigation by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force into images found on two iPhones pawned at a shop in the township.

Authorities searched the Nassau Court home of Marenkovic and the Oak Trace home of Basic.

Laptops, phones, and other evidence gathered during the searches were turned over to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation Forensics Lab.

Marenkovic was sentenced to nine months in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.
