Former Kennedy Catholic coach accused of evading taxes on $3.8 million

HERMITAGE, Pa. - EDITOR'S NOTE: As of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 15, Golub has resigned from his position as the Kennedy Catholic basketball coach.
The boy’s basketball coach of Kennedy Catholic High School is accused of evading taxes on nearly $3.8 million in revenue from his Mercer County business.
According to court documents, federal investigators have issued a bill of information charging Dustin R. Golub with three counts of tax evasion.
Golub allegedly filed false and fraudulent tax forms in 2017, 2018, and 2019 that under-reported income by $764,731, $1,483,371, and $1,543,789 in each of those respective years from Penn Ohio Roofing and Siding, a company that Golub and his wife both own.
The bill of information means that Golub has waived going through the process of being indicted by a grand jury. The government issues a bill of information, giving the defendant to enter a plea to the charges.
A conviction could bring up to a five-year prison sentence, a $250,000 fine, a $100,000 penalty for each count, an order of restitution, and three years probation.
Golub was named as Kennedy Catholic boys basketball coach in July, replacing Rick Mancino, who stepped down after the abbreviated season.
Golub is a 2003 Sharon graduate and attended Kennedy Catholic in 2000-2001 and was a state championship team member.
Kennedy Athletic Director John Niemi told 21 News on Monday that he is gathering information about the charges and will have a statement on Golub’s status later in the day.
