LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - A Mercer County man wanted in connection to a sexual assault of a teenage girl has been found dead.

According to our NBC affiliate KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas, 38-year-old William Ice was found by Arkansas State Police with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Highway 31.

KARK reports that Ice was involved in an incident with Lonoke police Saturday after they recognized his SUV at a McDonald's near Interstate 40.

Authorities say two people were in the SUV and ordered to get out. Once Ice got out of the car, he allegedly aimed a gun at one of the officers and started shooting, hitting one of them.

The second officer returned fire, but Ice got into the SUV and drove off.

KARK says officers chased Ice's vehicle until it got stuck in a snowbank. A 14-year-old was the passenger in the vehicle, and police were able to be secured by a state trooper.

The officer that was wounded is said to be in stable condition.
