An iconic restaurant chain with its roots in Sharon is being sold to an as-yet-undisclosed buyer.

Travel Centers of America announced that it has entered an agreement to sell its Quaker Steak & Lube, or QSL, business, which includes 41 of its standalone restaurants, for approximately $5 million.

The sale, expected to close this month, is subject to certain conditions.

Started in 1974 with a single restaurant in Sharon, Quaker Steak & Lube serves more than 30 million wings each year at more than 50 locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and nine other states.

Locally, QS&L operates restaurants in Cortland, Boardman, Austintown, and Salem, as well as the original location in Sharon.
