Officials arrested a Youngstown man Thursday on accusations of raping kids under 13 years old at the time.

Franklin Byron Clark Jr., 51, was wanted by the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office for a 23-count indictment, which includes 12 counts of rape and 11 counts of gross sexual imposition.

According to the indictment, there were four alleged victims where one was as young as two at the time. The alleged incidents happened over the course of several years, the indictment states.

The warrant for Clark was issued Thursday afternoon and U.S. Marshals had him in custody within hours. He was arrested without incident on the 700 block of Brentwood Avenue in Youngstown, according to officials.

Clark is now in the Mahoning County Jail where he will remain until his court appearance.

"A violent predator like this belongs one place, and that is behind bars. Our team worked quickly -- along with the Mahoning County Prosecutors Office and sheriff's office -- to ensure that this suspect was apprehended moments after the warrant was issued," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said.
