St. Columba Cathedral has announced its plans to mark Holy Week and Easter Sunday. 

The Youngstown church says health safety protocols will be followed and face coverings will be required.

Palm Sunday of The Passion of The Lord Weekend: March 27-28
Palm Sunday of The Passion of The Lord Mass will be celebrated on March 27 at 4 p.m. and March 28 at 10:30 a.m. and at 4 p.m.

Holy Tuesday: March 30
The annual Chrism Mass will be held on March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columba Cathedral. The Most Reverend David J. Bonnar will be principal celebrant. Priests concelebrating in the sanctuary will include Diocesan Consultors and Deans. Included in the Chrism Mass is the annual renewal of the diocesan and religious priests of their commitment to priestly service. An additional focus will be the consecration of the Sacred Chrism and blessing of the Oil of the Sick and the Oil of Catechumens. At the close of mass, each pastor will receive Sacred Chrism and the other Holy Oils for use in their parish

Due to pandemic restrictions and limited seating, the Chrism Mass is closed to the public and attendance is by invitation only.

The Catholic Television Network of Youngstown will live stream the Chrism Mass on the diocesan website. The Ecumenical Television Channel through the services of CTNY will rebroadcast the Chrism Mass on March 30 at 8 p.m. and on March 31 at 10 a.m. It will also broadcast in the Stark County area on April 1 at 10 p.m. The Chrism Mass will also broadcast in the City of Conneaut. 

Holy Thursday: April 1
The Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. on April 1 with Bishop David J. Bonnar as principal celebrant.

Friday of The Passion of The Lord: April 2
On Good Friday, The Passion of The Lord and Veneration of the Cross Service will be at 3 p.m. at St. Columba Cathedral. During this service, the annual collection for the Holy Land takes place. This collection helps preserve the holy places of Christ's homeland and alleviate the suffering of the poor of every faith in the Holy Land.

Holy Saturday: April 3
On Holy Saturday, the Blessing of the Easter Food will take place at 3 p.m. The Easter Vigil will take place at 8 p.m. with the Most Reverend David J. Bonnar presiding.

Easter Sunday of The Resurrection of The Lord: April 4
Mass on Easter Sunday will be at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dr. Daniel Laginya will be featured at the 12:30 p.m. mass. The 4 p.m. mass will not be celebrated on Easter Sunday.

Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available at St. Columba Cathedral on March 29 at 1 p.m., March 30 at 1 p.m. and March 31 at 1 p.m.
