The FBI is sending out a warning not to fall prey to thieves who will steal your money.

Recently a doctor was swindled out of $188,000 dollars after he was threatened with the loss of his medical license.

The elderly and others are also losing savings to thieves.

Yesterday FBI Special Agent Vicki Anderson got a call herself that sounded very convincing.

The caller demanded she pay immediately or they were coming to arrest her.

Anderson emphasizes DO NOT make that wire transfer, DO NOT write that check, and DO NOT send the money.

We'RE JUST TRYING TO GET THE WORD OUT, THIS IS NOT THE WAY THE FBI OPERATES, OR THE IRS, OR THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION OR ANY OF THESE GOVERNMENT ENTITIES, Said Anderson. "WE DON'T CALL PEOPLE DEMANDING THAT THEY PAY FINES OVER THE PHONE OR STICK CASH IN THE MAIL. WE DON'T DO ANY OF THOSE KINDS OF THINGS."

The money often ends up in another country and it's NOT possible to get it back.

The FBI adds you can request the caller's information, hang up, then call a trusted family member or your local law enforcement agency.
