VIENNA TWP., Ohio - Spring cleaning turned into much more than a routine chore for a Vienna Township man after a hand grenade fell at his feet.
The Niles Vienna Road resident says he was cleaning out an old shed Wednesday morning and pulled a spray paint can off the shelf when the grenade dropped to the floor.
The fire and police departments were on hand as the Youngstown Bomb Squad arrived to collect the device.
The homeowner said he remembers finding the grenade in his father’s locked gun cabinet when he was a child. The grenade went missing until the resident re-discovered it on Wednesday.
