HUBBARD, Ohio - After a fire tore through St. Patrick Church in Hubbard causing millions in damage, the parish is launching a campaign to raise money.

Church officials say the insurance reimbursement is restoring the church as it was before the fire. However, the facilities at the church have been functionally obsolete for some time, which is why the parish is launching a campaign to upgrade the facilities to meet future needs.

"Ours is a future of hope," said St. Patrick's Pastor Rev. Michael Swierz. "It's an opportunity to make our church building ready to meet the needs of the people for generations to come, improving our sanctuary, restoring and improving our organ, enlarging the kitchen facilities and make much-needed improvements to the church hall. It would also be wonderful to restore the original bells and erect a new bell tower."

For more information and to donate to the campaign, contact Swierz or the parish office at 330-534-1928.

The Cafaro Foundation has agreed to match all donations to this campaign up to $100,000.

St. Patrick church officials say they've been serving the faith community since 1867. They serve 1,700 area families, and the St. Patrick Preschool provides an education for young children.
