The third round of stimulus checks is hitting bank accounts already, but those who receive Social Security are still waiting to find out when their money will arrive.

Social Security recipients don't normally file a federal tax return, so the delay is linked to getting information on where to send millions of people their stimulus checks and providing that information to the IRS.

Worried while he waits for an update Jimmie Exline of Warren lives on a fixed income of $770 dollars a month.

The Social Security recipient says the third stimulus check would help with rising expenses likes grocery prices amid the pandemic.

"EVERYBODY KEEPS STAYING RELIEF IS ON ITS WAY. NOBODY IS GIVING US ANSWERS. YOU CALL THE IRS, THEY DON'T GIVE YOU ANSWERS. YOU CALL DIRECT EXPRESS THEY HAVE A MESSAGE SAYING IT WILL BE SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE PAYMENTS ARE PAID OUT," said Exline.

He's not the only one wondering when the money will arrive.

Close to 30 million people receive social security and supplemental security income.

Senator Sherrod Brown and other democratic lawmakers reached out to the Social Security Administration leadership last week urging for the transfer of files to the IRS. It now has the data it needs to send payments out.

Brown's office releasing this statement, saying they, "expect the checks to be going out soon. Sen. Brown will continue to monitor the situation and advocate on behalf of Social Security beneficiaries in Ohio."
