Two major vaccine clinics vaccinated over two thousand people in Mahoning County today.

Youngstown City Health District says things have been running smoothly, thanks to the help they've been receiving.

"We're so lucky to have the Ohio National Guard here working with us today, administering the shots, the vaccines," said Erin Bishop, Health Commissioner for Youngstown City Health District. "They also brought their nurses with them," she said.

They were able to vaccinate 520 people at the Covelli Centre. To date, about 30 percent of people living in Mahoning County have been vaccinated.

That's pretty much the same case for Youngstown still having to vaccinate 70 percent of people.

"We still have a lot to do and again that's you know, people's choice, we have to wait, you know what i mean, it's your choice if you want to get it," said Bishop.

At the Dillards store in the Southern Park Mall, over fifteen hundred people were vaccinated.

"Basically what we were vaccinating before in the beginning was about 500 at our health department," said Ryan Tekac, Mahoning County Health Commissioner. "Now that vaccine is starting to catch up, the supply's catching the demand. We're just pleased that we can triple that currently right now," he said.

"Happy, happy we came and did this," said Boardman resident Linda Shipsky. "All of our friends are doing it, our family and we want to be included in the family and friend gatherings," she said.

Clinics will be held every Thursday at the Covelli Centre until May 6th, except the week of April 11th where the clinic will be held on Wednesday April 14th.

Another clinic will be held at the Southern Park Mall Dillards on Saturday, April 10th.
