Girard student accused of chasing man with knife

GIRARD, Ohio - A Girard High School student has been arrested for allegedly wielding a knife while chasing a man at a gas station, as well as fighting a fellow student at the school earlier.
Marko Sowell, 18, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on Tuesday after Girard police issued a warrant for his arrest following to incidents.
The latest allegation came a week ago Tuesday after a 20-year-old man claims Sowell approached him with a knife while he was pumping gas at the Sunoco on South State Street.
The victim, who was not injured, says Sowell chased him until he could lock himself inside an employee’s room inside the gas station.
Witnesses say Sowell then drove away. The report gives no information on the motive for the alleged attack, or how the two knew each other.
According to a police report, five days earlier Sowell got into a fight with a fellow student at Girard Junior/Senior High School. The fight started after Sowell allegedly called the other student’s sister a name.
Sowell is charged with felonious assault, inducing panic, and trespass for the Sunoco incident, and faces a charge of unauthorized use of property for the high school incident.
The police report says both students face school discipline as well.
Sowell was scheduled to appear Wednesday for video arraignment on the charges in Girard Municipal Court.
