The man accused of leading officials on a chase throughout Trumbull County had his charges bound over to the Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas.

David Evans, 40, appeared in Girard Municipal Court on Wednesday where he waived his right to a preliminary hearing and had charges from the April 1 chase bound over. His charges after the chase include felony charges of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer and obstructing official business.

As part of the agreement, the minor misdemeanor charges of reckless operation, speed and crossing a divided highway were dismissed. His bond was set at $25,000.

Evans is accused of leading police on a chase after a routine traffic stop in Vienna. Vienna Police Chief Bob Ludt told 21 News Evans was driving on the wrong side of the road and even ended up sideswiping a trooper's cruiser. The Ohio State Highway Patrol eventually did a pit maneuver and knocked Evans off the road into a yard in Cortland.

On Wednesday, Judge Jeffrey Adler also sentenced Evans to 180 days in the Trumbull County Jail for a probation violation dealing with unrelated charges dating back to 2019 out of Hubbard Township. Evans did get credit for 20 days already served, so he'll have to serve the remaining 160 days.
