Officers investigating stabbing find trail of blood at Warren apartment

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren woman is in jail after police say they had to follow a trail of blood to find her boyfriend who she allegedly stabbed.
Erika Carper, 45, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail early Friday on a charge of felonious assault following her arrest at the Riverview Apartments on Tod Avenue.
Police believe Carper stabbed 51-year-old James Earnest at the apartment at around 2 a.m.
Officers found blood on the floor and walls of the building’s third floor, and eventually found Earnest on the fourth floor suffering from lacerations on his chest and hands.
Paramedics took Earnest to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of severe lacerations.
Police say Carper insisted that her “baby” wasn’t going to talk to police and claimed that she had been to prison three times for stabbing people and told officers “It ain’t nothing” according to the police report.
In 2010, Carper was sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to attempted felonious assault.
Two years later she was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to felonious assault.
