Poland softball edges South Range, 8-7

The Poland Bulldogs softball team improved to a 7-1 record after out-lasting South Range in a good game Tuesday.
Poland jumped out in front in the first inning, 2-0. South Range took the lead with a three-run third inning, but the Bulldogs countered in the fourth frame with three more runs to tie the game at 5-5.
Poland scored a run in each of the final three innings, leading 8-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. South Range put two runs on the board, but couldn't tie the game or take the lead before the third out.
Starting pitcher Katie McDonald picked up the complete game win, her seventh of the season. She gave up nine hits, walked two and struck out seven across the seven innings.
On offense, Jackie Grisdale turned in five RBI, while Mary Brant, Katie McDonald and Gia Schiavone eached added an RBI each for Poland.
For South Range, Reagan Irons, Bree Kohler and Juli Stachowicz each had a pair of RBI.
Bree Kohler started on the mound for the Raiders, going seven innings while also giving up nine hits and striking out seven. With the loss, South Range still has an impressive 9-2 record.
