Former Struthers PTA president repays $32,000, case dismissed

STRUTHERS, Ohio - A judge has dismissed a grand theft charge that had been filed against a former president of the Struthers Parent Teachers Association who had been accused of stealing more than $32,000 from the organization's account.
Jessica Hallquist was charged after Struthers Law Director John Zomoida said she allegedly stole $32,664.20 from February 2018 to August of 2020.
Struthers School Superintendent Pete Pirone tells 21 News that Hallquist has since made full restitution.
At a hearing in Struthers Municipal Court, Visiting Judge David Fuhry dismissed the case at the request of the prosecutor.
The missing money was discovered after Zomoida said superintendent Pirone contacted the police chief about the irregularities.
Pirone called the chief after a secretary came across the account statement and noticed transactions that occurred when school was out due to the pandemic.
