ELLSWORTH TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is on scene in Ellsworth Township following a rollover crash.

The crash happened around 12:35 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Route 45 and Palmyra Road.

According to the release, a 1997 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight was traveling northbound when a 2012 Jeep Liberty went through a stop sign and hit it.

The 87-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile was trapped inside his car following the crash and had to be mechanically extricated.

The elderly man was transported by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Youngstown and is in critical condition. State Troopers told 21 News Sunday that he is doing well and recovering from his injuries.

A 29-year-old man was driving the Jeep Liberty and was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Alcohol and distracted driving are suspected to be factors in the crash and OVI tests were given to the Jeep's driver on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
