BOARDMAN, Ohio - A Warren Harding High School teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after entering a not guilty plea to charges filed after police say her car rammed into another car in the parking lot of a Boardman restaurant.

Victoria Manzo, a 59-year-old technology teacher at Harding, was cited for failure to control her vehicle and OVI for refusing a sobriety test.

The Girard woman was arrested after police say her Nissan Rogue traveled in reverse, pushing a parked Mercedez Benz through a metal fence along the Aqua Pazzo parking lot on McClurg Road shortly before 11 p.m. on April 17.

According to the police report, the arresting officer could smell alcohol on Manzo, who was also described as having slurred speech.

The officer said that Manzo refused to submit to a sobriety test.

Manzo's next court hearing is scheduled for May 27 in Mahoning County Court.

State records indicate that Manzo has been a teacher since 1995.

Warren City School Superintendent Steve Chiaro has notified Manzo that she has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted into the charges filed against her.

Manzo will continue to receive her salary and benefits while on "home assignment", during which time she is prohibited from being on school property, or contacting any employee or student of the district.

The school will schedule a fact-finding meeting.
