Local Dairy Queen operator buys former Canfield Perkins

The operator of several local Dairy Queens in the Valley has purchased the building that once housed a Perkins restaurant in Canfield.
According to property records, the vacant building at 587 E. Main Street was bought last month by Canfielddqe LLC for $600,000.
The purchase was made by the Smith family, which operates DQs in Austintown, Cornersburg, Canfield, Columbiana, and Canfield.
Christine Smith tells 21 News that she thinks the building would be a good location for a Dairy Queen, but as yet has not made a decision what to do with the location.
The Perkins restaurant closed its doors in August 2019 when a bankruptcy judge ruled that ten restaurant franchises would no longer be allowed to continue operating using the Perkins name.
Smith says that the family also purchased property across the street from Akron Children's Hospital on Market Street in Boardman, but also has not decided what they will do with the location.
