As of May 12, there's a brand-new federal program aimed to help families struggling to afford high-speed internet.

The new Federal Communications Commission Emergency Broadband Benefit program provides $50 dollars a month towards a household internet bill and a potential hundred dollar payment towards a computer.

Families eligible for this program include:

-Those at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. For a family of four, this would be an income of about $30,000.
-Anyone receiving any form of government assistance
-Those with students receiving free or reduced lunches
-And households who experienced a substantial loss of income due to job loss during the pandemic

Oak Hill Collaborative is offering help to get anyone signed up and says people should act FAST since the program comes from federal dollars.
