OSHA investigates death of worker at South Ave. road project in Boardman

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of a construction worker who was killed while working on a road project in Boardman.
The Mahoning County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 31-year-old Matthew Mashburn, whose last known address was in Struthers.
According to Boardman Fire Chief Mark Pitzer, Mashburn was cutting a concrete culvert along South Avenue around noon on Tuesday when the power saw kicked back, striking the man's neck and chest, cutting an artery.
The fire department's rescue squad tried to stabilize the victim who was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Scott Allen of the U.S. Department of Labor tells 21 News that OSHA has opened an investigation with S.E.T., Inc., a general contractor based in Lowellville.
