Ohio man says Jesus told him he didn't need a driver's license, leads officers on chase

VERMILION, Ohio - An Ohio man was arrested by U.S. Marshals after claiming that Jesus told him he didn't need a driver's license.
According to the release, 39-year-old James Thompson was stopped by Vermilion police on May 10 after reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area.
Police had initially been looking for Thompson because of a custody case.
The release says Thompson was asked for his driver's license by officers and told them that he did not need one because he was a sovereign soul and Jesus Christ told him that he didn't need one.
Thompson then fled the scene in his truck before eventually crashing into a ditch and running away on foot through the Vermilion Country Club golf course.
The release says Thompson was able to escape police on that day, but officers found ammunition for an AK-47, a bulletproof vest, knives, and survival gear in his truck.
U.S. Marshals were able to locate Thompson on Tuesday in a vehicle in the Mill Hollow Vermilion River Reservation.
He was arrested without incident.
Thompson was wanted for fleeing from police, weapons under disability, and possession of dangerous ordinances.
