YOUNGSTOWN - A Youngstown couple has filed a lawsuit in federal court against the U.S. Postal service claiming the wife’s wedding band was lost in the mail.

Ryan and Leia Raymond, who according to probate records were married in 2018, claim in their complaint that they used Priority Mail this past October to send Leia’s wedding ring to a California company to remount some diamonds that had become dislodged.

The breach of contract complaint says the couple paid $100 for shipping and insurance.

The Raymonds say the ring never arrived in California.  The last record the Postal Service has of the shipment was at a facility in Warrendale, Pennsylvania.

The couple says they had to replace the ring at a cost of $1,715.98 and are suing the post office for that amount.

The postal service has not yet replied to the lawsuit.
