STRUTHERS, Ohio - A 46-year-old Youngstown man on parole for a grand theft conviction is has been federally charged after allegedly robbing a credit union.

Anthony Salata is accused of robbing the Struthers Federal Credit Union on May 21.

Police say a man went into the credit union on Poland Avenue Thursday morning and told a teller that he wanted to open an account. The teller explained that she needed to see an ID to open it.

The suspect then said it was a robbery and demanded money.  According to the release, Salata told the teller "This is a stickup. Give me all the money, no dye packs. Remember, I know who you are and where you live."

After the teller handed over the money, the suspect ran away on foot across Poland Avenue.

The victim told officers that Salata had been in an agitated state and was sweating profusely, shaking, and moved sluggishly during the incident.

Around 1:45 p.m. Thursday, the Boardman Fire Department responded to the report of an unresponsive man lying in a ditch behind the McDonald's on East Midlothian Boulevard at South Avenue. The man was later identified as Salata and was arrested.

Salata was on parole at the time of his arrest for a grand theft conviction.
