HUBBARD, Ohio - Hubbard police have given an update on the officer injured during a high-speed police pursuit Monday night.

The chase began Monday evening around 8:14 p.m. near Route 62 and Bedford Road in Brookfield.

According to initial reports, the vehicle took off and went into Hubbard near Flying J.

Dispatchers say the suspect rammed Officer Eric Mallory in his police cruiser near Truck World and Shell before the suspects took off on foot. 

Two 21-year-old men were arrested and are now in the Trumbull County Jail.

Mallory was taken to the hospital after the crash. 

The chief said Officer Mallory is doing well and will recover from his injuries.

Mallory was hired back in April of 2019 after serving three years at the Youngstown Police Department.

Before that, Mallory served in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant.

After his military service, he attended Kent State University and Youngstown State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.

The cruiser is totaled from the incident. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Brookfield police are investigating.
