Lordstown battery plant career fair being held Wednesday at Eastwood Mall

NILES, Ohio - Ultium Cells LLC will be holding a career fair Wednesday, May 26 at the Eastwood Mall Event Center in Niles.
Ultium is a joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution and will have recruiters on-site for the career fair.
The event will be held from 1 to 7 p.m.
Ultium Cells LLC expects to create 1,100 new jobs in the northeast Ohio area and is currently hiring to fill those positions at its battery cell manufacturing plant in Lordstown.
Construction on the facility is underway and is expected to finish up in 2022.
Candidates that are unable to attend the event can view and apply to open positions on the Ultium Cells website.
The Associated Press reported Tuesday that GM said it will support efforts by the UAW to organize employees at the battery factories.
GM spokesperson Dan Flores released the following statement about the AP report:
As we deliver on our plans to create an all-electric future, GM will build on a long history of supporting unions to promote safety, quality, training, and well-paying jobs for American workers. Both GM and Ultium Cells LLC respect workers’ right to unionize and the efforts of the UAW to organize battery cell manufacturing workers in Ohio and Tennessee at our joint venture sites. When fully operational, these American battery facilities will employ more than 2,300 workers. We believe the UAW, given their historic and constructive relationship in the automotive industry, would be well-positioned to represent the workforce.
