Resentencing for convicted Youngstown killer continued

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The resentencing of a Youngstown man convicted of aggravated murder has been continued.
The sentencing hearing for Kyle Patrick was to be held Tuesday afternoon.
According to the court docket, the sentencing will now take place on June 14 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge John Durkin.
Patrick is currently serving a life prison sentence with parole eligibility after 33 years following the murder conviction.
The case dates back to 2012 when a robbery and fatal shooting took place at a home on Silliman Street in Youngstown.
During the incident, Patrick shot and killed Michael Abighanem at a home where the victim had gone to sell a video game console and laptop.
Patrick was 17-years-old at the time of the killing.
The resentencing comes after the Ohio Supreme Court remanded the case in December, citing that "the record…does not demonstrate the trial court considered Patrick’s youth as a mitigating factor.”
The ruling requires a resentencing of Patrick, but does not overturn his conviction.
