A Masury woman is facing charges after allegedly putting sugar in the gas tank of her ex-boyfriend's motorcycle.

According to a release from Grove City Police, 39-year-old Courtney Engelhardt of Masury put sugar in the gas tank of the man's motorcycle.

Police say Engelhardt also stole the ignition key.

Engelhardt is scheduled to appear before a district magistrate on June 30 to answer charges of theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief following the incident.

According to Popular Mechanics, it's a myth that putting sugar into a vehicle's fuel system damages the engine.

Experts say granules of sugar don't dissolve in gasoline as they in water, and merely sit in the tank to be caught by the filters in the fuel system.
