YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Juneteenth Weeklong Celebration is being held in Youngstown beginning Saturday.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, celebrates the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States.

The holiday is being commemorated in Youngstown with a number of events between June 12 and June 20.

Below is a list of the Juneteenth events happening in the city.

  • LOUD 102.3 Junetenth Celebration - June 19
  • Mahoning Valley Fatherhood Coalition Father's Day Prayer Service, Cookout, and Car Show - June 20

The Juneteenth Celebration at the Youngstown Amphitheatre will feature spoken word performances, line dancing, a candlelight vigil, and citywide prayer.
