Boardman hotel floors evacuated as police, Secret Service, SWAT arrest suspect

Police, Secret Service agents, and a SWAT team converged on a Boardman hotel to arrest a man suspected of making threats directed toward the White House.
Township Police were called to the Red Roof Inn on Thursday to assist Secret Service agents who believed that 57-year-old Timothy Geisler was traveling from his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Washington D.C.
A relative told authorities that Geisler is mentally ill and has threatened government officials. Another relative of Geisler said that he has shown animosity toward police and said he believed he has a right to shoot people.
After learning from a member of the housekeeping staff that Geisler had an ax, knives, and clubs in his room, police ordered an evacuation of the first two floors of the hotel before knocking on Geisler’s door.
When the door opened, Boardman Police Chief Todd Werth found himself face to face with Geisler, who had blood on his head, according to the police report.
With one hand hidden behind his back, Chief Werth ordered Geisler to show both hands.
The confrontation erupted into a wrestling match with three officers and Geisler ending up on the floor.
Another officer used a Taser on Geisler who was then handcuffed and taken to Mercy Hospital for an evaluation.
Police say they recovered an ax, knives, clubs, a pipe, and a stick from Geisler’s room.
He’s been charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
