Police: Man calls 911 to report strangling wife at Mercer trailer park

Police have arrested a man at a Mercer County trailer park for allegedly murdering his wife.
State Police say 41-year-old Serena Anne Schoede was found dead in the Pine Grove Mobile Home Park on the Perry Highway late Monday.
Police say 44-year-old Eric George called 9-1-1 around 10:45 p.m. saying he had strangled his wife, who was found inside a trailer.
The Police Major Case Team, along with Mercer County Coroner John Libonati were called to the crime scene. Libonati says the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Erie County for an autopsy.
Libonati suspects the cause of death is asphyxiation by strangulation.
Although court records list the suspect’s home address in Mercer, Libonati says he understands the couple was visiting from California.
It was discovered that the two had married this year.
George is scheduled to be arraigned before a district magistrate Tuesday afternoon on a charge of criminal homicide.
He remains held in the Mercer County Jail without bond.
