The Ohio Senate has approved legislation to bring legalized sports betting to the state.

The proposal would allow betting at casinos, betting shops, sports bars, computers, mobile phones and pro sports stadiums.

The bill's co-sponsor, Senator Niraj Antani of the Dayton area, says it will spur lots of economic opportunities for Ohio businesses.

This legislation also allows for electronic bingo at veteran's and fraternal organizations overseen by the Ohio Attorney General's Office - and sports pool betting run by the Ohio Lottery Commission.

The state is going to get 10 percent from the net revenue of these operations.

That will go toward public and private education, along with gambling addiction.

The measure still has to go through the Ohio House.

Wednesday, the Ohio Senate also passed a bill that would let college athletes earn money through endorsements and sponsorship deals based on their names, images and likenesses.

That measure also now heads for the House.
