YOUNGSTOWN - A federal grand jury has returned a 57-count indictment charging nine people for their alleged roles in a drug trafficking conspiracy that operated in and around the Youngstown area.

Acting U.S. Attorney Bridget M. Brennan made the announcement on Wednesday.

The following suspects are named in the indictment:
-Korey K. Moody
-Cedric L. Sanders
-Matthew J. Spain
-Michael N. Childs Jr.
-Dewayne A. McCullough
-Ghalayah L. LaBooth
-George V. Barnette
-Lamar E. Knox
All of Youngstown

-Lawrence K. McBride of Salem

In a news release, Brennan states the defendants are all charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute cocaine, crack, heroin, fentanyl, fentanyl analogues and methamphetamine.

In addition, the defendants are charged with various counts of use of a communication facility in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, maintaining a drug premise, distribution of heroin and fentanyl, distribution of fentanyl, distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, distribution of cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl, and acetyl fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to the indictment, from February to December of 2019, Moody allegedly supplied heroin and cocaine to Sanders, Spain, LaBooth and Childs for distribution in the Youngstown area.

In turn, it is alleged that Spain and Childs supplied cocaine to McCullough, Barnette, Knox and McBride for redistribution in the areas around Youngstown.

The defendants allegedly used cell phones and code words to conduct and conceal their activities.

Moody is also accused of maintaining a drug premise on Delason Avenue in Youngstown to store and distribute drugs and narcotics.
