Niles recognizes state track & field, cross country champions
Chante Clinkscale was the most recent state champion, capturing titles in the 100, and 200-meter dash

Residents, alumni, family, and fans came together at Niles High School on Saturday to commemorate 53 years of Niles State Track & Field and Cross Country State Champions.
It's a reign of champions that started in 1968, where Les Nagy captured back-to-back titles(1968, 1969) in the 2-mile run.

Niles saw its first two female athlete claim championships in
Jodi Riedel won the shot put with a throw of 45' 6 3/4".

Kara Johnson took first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.67, which set a state record.
15 years later, Marc Tipton won two state titles in the 110-meter hurdles(13.79) and the 300-meter hurdles(37.37).
Chante Clinkscale recently won championships in both the 100(11.86) and 200-meter dash(24.30).
