MERCER, Pa. -  A man accused of strangling his newlywed wife at his mother’s Mercer County trailer remains jailed without bond as his case is sent on for trial in common pleas court.

Forty-four-year-old Eric George appeared before a District Magistrate in Mercer on Monday, where one count of Criminal Homicide was held for court.

Police say George admitted to a 911 dispatcher that he strangled 41-year-old Serena Anne Schoeder who was found dead in the Pine Grove Mobile Home Park in Coolspring Township on Perry Highway on the night of June 14.

The criminal complaint filed in district court states that George married Schoeder this year and was living at his mother’s trailer.

George, who is a registered sex offender,  is scheduled for a formal arraignment before Judge Tedd Nesbit on August 31.
