NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - A new council member will be added to Newton Falls City Council Monday.

Mayor Kenneth Kline made the decision to appoint Brian Kropp to the at-large council seat.

Kropp will be sworn in at 5 p.m. Monday.

Mayor Kline made the decision to appoint Kropp based on the Charter of Newton Falls which requires the mayor to fill council seats that are vacant after 60 days.

The appointment comes after Tarry Alberini vacated the seat back on May 4th.

Since Alberini's resignation, council rejected Catie Karl for the seat by a 3-2 vote.

Kline was the deciding vote in Karl's rejection.

Kropp's term will expire at the end of the year.
