Austintown's Fourth of July Parade makes a return to the city

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Austintown held its forty-third annual Fourth of July parade, Sunday. The event brought people from all around Ohio
.
"Austintown is famous for it's Fourth of July parade so I had to be here," John Cranley, mayor of Cincinnati, said.
The event made a highly anticipated return after being forced to cancel last year due to the pandemic.
"I'm just excited for my son to see his first parade. We had covid last year so he didn't get to have that opportunity. So, I'm just glad to have it today," Steven Bernard, an Austintown resident, said.
"It's like a relief. It's a joy just to watch all the children have fun and see the excitement," another Austintown resident, Tanya Martin, said.
The Austintown Police Department headed the parade, which also featured the city's fire department, high school marching band and more. The Mahoning County GOP even brought along to elephants that walked in the parade.
Many people say that this year, they're celebrating not only celebrating Independence Day, but also life, after a year without mass gatherings.
"I love my country and it's great to be back out again, free again. A tough year for everybody. But what a great time to celebrate again," Cranley said.
