Grove City College is making improvements to its library.

The college's 70-year-old Henry Buhl Library building is getting a $9 million makeover that will drastically change the space.

According to the release, the project includes additional studying and classroom space, a new reading room, updated stacks, a cafe, lounge and patio.

Technological improvements, more power sources and Wi-Fi boosts are also being added to the space.

The library originally opened in 1954 and has experienced a number of smaller upgrades but the current project is its first major renovation.

The current reference library space will be converted into a cafe and lounge that opens into a patio - something that is completely brand new to the space.

The library's reading room will be moved downstairs, creating two classrooms and a number of group workrooms that can accommodate up to 20 people with moveable tables to create workspaces.

Library renovations have been split into two phases. The first phase includes the ground floor work and second floor stacks and will be completed by the fall. The second phase will begin in December and will focus on the first floor with work continuing through summer 2022.

Grove City College received a $2.5 million grant from the Pew Charitable Trust for the project and the bulk of the cost is being covered by donations.
