EAST PALESTINE, Ohio -  A high-speed chase in East Palestine late Friday ended in a crash and confiscation of what at first glance appeared to be bags and bags of candies and treats.

Police say the 52 brightly designed packages contained more than 2,000 grams of THC edibles bearing names such as DoweedO’s and other similar snack names.

Police say when they attempted to arrest 22-year-old Cassidy Francis of Warren on a previous warrant, she sped away with an officer in pursuit.

According to police, Francis nearly struck an undercover patrol car while traveling in reverse and she allegedly tried to run over another officer while attempting to escape.

The chase ended when the car being pursued struck a utility pole and rolled over.

In addition to the bags of chips, cookies, and candy, police say they found drug paraphernalia and other narcotics.

No one was injured in the chase or crash.

Francis is charged with felonious assault, failure to comply, resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia, and several traffic violations.

A passenger in the car, DeShawn Harvey, 48, Warren, is charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.

Police say more charges could follow.
