SOUTHINGTON, Ohio - A former teacher and coach at Southington Local Schools was arraigned in front of a judge Thursday morning.

Craig Lefkowitz, 51, was indicted on nine counts of sexual battery and one count of compelling prostitution. The indictment occurred on June 30th.

He has been ordered by a judge to have no contact with any unaccompanied minors while he awaits trial.

Lefkowitz was initially arrested in April after the Trumbull County Sheriff received a complaint from a former Southington student. The complaint claimed that Lefkowitz was involved in inappropriate sexual activity over the course of the student's high school career 15 years ago.

The indictment stated that Lefkowitz allegedly attempted or actually did pay a minor to engage in sexual activity with him.

Lefkowitz's bail was set at $15,000 in April.

Southington Schools Superintendent told 21 News that Lefkowitz resigned from his position at their last board meeting. He worked at Southington Schools for 21 years.
