More violent shootings in Youngstown call for more help and an air tight plan for crime stopping.

Youngstown Police Officers are doing their best to crack down on criminals and free the city of these recurring instances.

Three people were shot overnight Sunday at Miss Daisy's Place on south Avenue. They were all taken to the hospital.

Then on the same street, a 17 year old boy was shot and killed at a gas station.

With shooting crimes seemingly increasing, Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown says he's trying.

"Safety of your community is always number one. That's a day to day operation for us," said Brown. "That's on my heart and my mind everyday so just because we got ARP fundings does not negate the fact that we will have a safe community adn we will continue everyday to make sure people feel safe," he said.

As investigators continue to work on the shooting cases, Brown says the Youngstown Police Department has strategies to stop the violence in the city but they won't be made public.

"We have our neighborhood response unit, we have our vice out, they're working their strategies," said Brown.

He continues to push for help from the community in the meantime.

"We're doing everything that we can that where the law allows us to do so, but the problem is we've got individuals who are not talking," Brown said. "My message always remains the same that we have to have those who know something need to say something," he said.

There has been no update from police on any arrests or charges in either case as of yet.

The mayor says he plans to use some of the American Rescue Plan money on intervention programs for at risk kids as well as recruiting new officers.
